Product Care

The basis of most, if not all swimwear is a synthetic fibre called Elastane. This fibre is what makes your swimwear stretchy and comfortable. This fibre unfortunately will degrade and lose its strength when it’s exposed to chlorine, salt water, sunlight, perspiration and the chemicals and oils found in sun lotions. When this fibre begins to degrade, dependent on the colour of your swimwear it can sometimes appear yellow or alter the original colour. It is therefore crucial that you care for your swimwear items correctly to extend the garments life.

Leap & Loop would always recommend you follow the care instructions attached to your merchandise from the supplier, however we understand that labels can be a nuisance and you may cut these off or perhaps they’ve faded over time with use.

So, Leap & Loop have put together some simple instructions for you to follow so that you get the upmost out of your swimwear.

Leap & Loop Product Care

Wash By Hand

-Thoroughly rinse your garment with water immediately after use to remove any chlorine, saltwater or any other residues.

-If you wish, you can use the required amount of mild bleach free detergent mixed with cool/warm water if you wish

-Swirl your garment around the water/suds and let it soak for up to 1 hour. Ensure you wash bikini tops and bottoms together, so that if any colour change occurs they’ll still match.

- Remove the swimwear and gently rinse under running water.

Drying

- You can use a towel to remove excess water. Do not wring your swimwear tightly as this may tear fibres.

- Hang or dry on a flat surface away from direct sunlight.

- Store your suit once it’s completely dry.

Leap & Loop Recommends You Avoid

-Using fabric conditioner, as this breaks the fibres.

- Using a dryer, the heat will significantly damage the fibres.

- Storing your suit when it’s damp, this can alter the colour and quality.

- Drying your swimwear in direct sunlight or in contact with other garments.

- Ironing, the heat will significantly damage the fibres.

- Hot Tubs and Jacuzzi’s, they have a very high chlorine content that can alter the colour and quality of your swimwear.

It’s common that some designers swimwear may contain rubber latex within the elastics usually wrapped in fabric, for example around the leg. Allergy sufferers should take care as we can’t guarantee that it won’t come into direct contact with the skin.
